Bahcesehir K-12 Schools have adopted the individualised learning system and whole learning philosophies together with the constructivist approach as a basis for a fully equipped educational environment. Our professional team consists of native and non-native teachers all gathered around the shared culture of Bahcesehir Schools.

We possess the facilities to bring out the strengths in academic, social and artistic areas in each student. We aim towards the integration of cross-curricular activities, drama, interactive education, whole learning, project - based education, research and development techniques in all of our subjects.

   

Technology – based Education
Information technology is indispensible in today’s world. Therefore, smart class, hyper class, physics/chemistry/biology laboratories, OHPs, projectors and DVDs are part of the technology used in our schools.

Parents can keep track of their child’s progress through our website (www.bahcesehir.k12.tr). They can also get in touch with the department heads through the interactive communication systems. Students can also use this website  for educational purposes. Bahcesehir Schools work in collaboration with the Stevens Instıtute Technology in New York to keep abreast of the recent developments in technology and apply them to all of the schools.

As of 2007-2008 academic year, all of the first grade students at Bahcesehir Schools will be given the Mobile School Computer, designed by Intel. They will have the opportunity to use these mini computers both at school and at home.Our schools will be pioneering the integration of Mobile computers into the classroom all over Turkey.

These durable mini computers are user-friendly and are regarded as the “future school bags”. Wireless internet connection is also available with the latest technology which transfers the handwriting of the student from the notebook onto the computer screen. These innovations in technology will change the educational system all over world. Through such a technological aid, students will be more actively involved in the learning process. These computers will bring a new look at education and technology both for students, teachers and parents.

   

Foreign Language Education
The language education system at our schools is based on language acquisition rather than exam based traditional methods. We are aiming at language acquisition based on the philosophy of the Common European Framework. Students have a chance to acquire the language in rich language environments. Grammar is regarded as a means to an end, where the students will be guided to elicit the grammatical rules rather being spoonfed with the rules. Instead of focusing on grammar and correctness of each sentence, we focus on improving the five skills – listening, reading, writing, spoken interaction and production. Students are encouraged to try out their language skills through projects, presentations, debates, songs and drama.
Students are encouraged to be life-long autonomous learners with a tolerance towards different cultures around the world. As of 2007-2008 our schools will be piloting the European Language Portfolio as part of the plurilingualism and pluriculturalism project.

All of our students are required to take the Cambridge Young Learners Exams to certify the level of their language abilities and receive internationally recognised certificates.

Bahçeşehir schools also provide summer school opportunities in England to practise their language skills and have a chance to learn about different cultures abroad.  We also invite British teachers from England to hold summer school programs in Turkey.
Students get the chance to use English in the real world.

   

Counseling and Guidance Department
The counselling department organises activities both for parents and students. They arrange events in psychological, social and academic areas.

The counseling department does individual and group observations, tests, inventories, publishes newsletters and provides vocational guidance. They conduct Career Development Programmes starting from 7th grade. The most effective scientific theory in the world in relating career choice and the characteristics of the individual is Dr. John Holland’s RIASEC model. Career Aptitude Test, a reliable, valid test was developed in light of this model. Students who take this test are presented with a Career Aptitude Test report and a certificate.
